This piece was crafted from a white oak log. The basic form was bandsawn, with the inner blank removed and saved for another similar, but smaller container. Further shaping was carried out with a spokeshave and hand planes. The surface was then textured to emphasize its natural look and finished with a light layer of milk paint, allowing the grain and texture of the wood to show through. It functions both as a lidded box and an open display container for things such as dried flowers.
